Couldn't wait to try out the deco patch products, so was really pleased to see a free make and take at the NEC

Another action packed day at the NEC awaits... Here are some of the workshops and make and takes we attended

Wow embossing powders.. We all got some great tips using Sheens Douglas WOW embossing powders. Jane made the card shown below using these products and naturally we brought a lot of these colours of powders to try them out and home. Posts on what we made back home in the craft room to follow........

Firey fashion scarf

I made this scarf from a single ball of yarn I think it was RICO but not sure




I gave this to my sister Helen for her birthday today



I was very pleased the way the earthy red and orange colours came out against the black

Christmas candle

Tonight we made some Christmas candles using vellum for a shade and a wine glass as a base.


A simple crescent shape is cut from vellum and this is wrapped around the glass to made a faux shade

Anything from your crafty stash can be used to decorate the shade.

I have decorated one in a Christmas theme ... White stazon is used here to stamp a random snowflake design and i have added silver deer cut outs and some silver stick on gems to decorate it. A punch has also been used to mirror the snowflake design.


I also made this more shabby styled design using Papermania vellum. I thought the roses looked really effective.... A laced up ribbon design added both a design element and a practical application in that it held the shade together with having to glue it. Some additional detail has been added by highlighting some of the elements of the roses with a sticky glue pen and then embellishing with glitter. Again gems have been added around the edge to highlight the bottom.


Remember folks only use the faux tea lights in these. Our local store sells 4 battery operated tea lights for £1.00, so an inexpensive gift idea that can be personalised for any occasion.

Christams candle

Animal card

Tonight I was inspired to make this animal card


The background is made from a single piece of black paper randomly ripped to create a camouflage style effect



A few animal type sentiments complete the look


I also used some fluffy hairy wool to make a rustic style sign for the "have a wild one" sentiment and a black brad to symbolise a nail holding up the sign

I used a single zebra stamp and the masking technique to replicate the zebra twice to make the little herd

The zebra are coloured with promarker in cool grey 5

I grounded the zebra by using a different promarker cool grey 1 to give the illusion of them walking in the bush velt



The border is simply a piece of ribbon from my stash which I thought mirrored the style and colour of the card

here is a lovely card done with pro markers, a different colour scheme than the usual green and red

flower soft fluffy duckling

Thelma made this card using flower soft to create the beautiful fluffy downy texture on the duck

 

first communion

flower embelishments

tonight we learnt how to make paper flowers.. the first one on the left is made using a five petal flower shape cut out several times and stacked on top of each other and secured with pin flair glue

these two flowers were made using a petal punch each punched flower was made to look more dimensional by folding and rolling the petal edges with the edge of an embossing tool to make them bend easily, as flower 3 had a more open design a used a small pearl bead to decorate the centre for a different look tot he closed inwards version


the smallest crinkled effect flower was made by scrunching paper petals together and securing with a brad

Pro marker night

Tonight was our pro marker class night, we all shared our colours and tested out some different shading techniques...

friendly plastic

i recently watched a you tube video on this product and thought i would have a go
i tried various colours and then integrated the melted plastic with some other mediums inclsuing wire and fusible fibres. I really liked the results, but need more practice getting the melting temperature correct

Tonight we took part in a stamp challenge .... We all had to use the same tree stamp and the idea was to see how many different schemes or design ideas we could come up with...... Here's my attempts

today I went on a day trip to an exhibition to Manchester, I had plenty of time to do a bit of sight seeing as well

Goal line craft day

Today we are asked to run a craft day for the goalline youth group.

There were over 70 kids attending the open day and the sticking and glueing went on for hours. Here are some of the things the kids made, of course everyone wanted a hallowen theme

Hillsborough card class

Joined Amanda's craft workshop tonight. Amanda Paul is one of Debbie Moore's designers and this is her first class in a course of 4.
Tonight's class was focusing on monochromatic cards. we had to use the materials had Amanda had brought along too ie we had to use stamps and one colour of ink.
